Join John Rakestraw and Refuge staff in Oysterville at 9:00 AM as he leads a field trip to watch shore birds until 12:00 PM. John focuses on the many species that pass through the Pacific NW and helps you identify our visitors by pattern, size, shape, and behavior.

John Rakestraw worked as a naturalist in Kansas and Ohio before settling in Oregon. He is the author of Birding Oregon and numerous articles for birding and nature magazines. He currently leads classes and trips for Portland Audubon, and writes about birding and nature at ethicalbirder.com.
