Mission: to provide assistance to the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge programs and to enhance awareness and appreciation of the Refuge.

Goals and Actions

We are an independent, non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization officially recognized on July 20, 2000 and are dedicated to:

  • Promoting the conservation of the natural resources of the Refuge, 
  • Fostering public understanding and appreciation of the Refuge, 
  • Engaging in activities that will assist the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge meet its mandates,
  • Providing educational opportunities, and
  • Increasing public awareness, involvement, appreciation, and enjoyment of the Refuge. 
Some of the goals and actions we take to meet our mission include:
  • Nature Notes weekly radio broadcast, 
  • Regular newsletters, 
  • Maintaining the Friends Website and Facebook page, 
  • Organizing the Wings over Willapa Festival in September, and
  • Presenting environmental education curriculum in 4th grade classrooms in six schools in Pacific County.
