John Rakestraw presents: Of Plovers and Peeps:

Spring Shorebird Migration in the Pacific NW

In a path that spans continents, shorebirds migrate each spring to nesting grounds in the north. This program will introduce you to many of the species that pass through the Pacific Northwest each year and help you to identify them by pattern, size, shape, and behavior.

John Rakestraw worked as a naturalist in Kansas and Ohio before settling in Oregon. He is the author of Birding Oregon and numerous articles for birding and nature magazines. He currently leads classes and trips for Portland Audubon, and writes about birding and nature at ethicalbirder.com.
