Audubon’s 122nd Christmas Bird Count will take place on December 18.  Due to COVID, Willapa Hills Audubon is not looking for additional volunteers for the Leadbetter Point count, but feeder watchers can make an important contribution to the Count. If you live within the count area (see attached map or link https://audubon.maps.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=ac275eeb01434cedb1c5dcd0fd3fc7b4), and would like to report birds at your feeders, please contact the refuge (360-642-3860, willapa@fws.gov) before the count, and we’ll put you in touch with the coordinator for Willapa Hills Audubon.

The Pacific Flyway Shorebird Survey (PFSS) will be conducted in Willapa Bay on December 10. PFSS is a coordinated multi-partner monitoring program designed to guide the management and conservation of wintering shorebirds in the Pacific Flyway. You can learn more about this event here: https://data.pointblue.org/apps/pfss/. The PFSS contributes data to the Migratory Shorebird Project, the largest coordinated survey of wintering shorebirds on the Pacific Coast of the Americas, and spans 10 countries from Canada to Peru. You can contact the refuge if you would like to volunteer next year.
